• Contractions will be easy to teach with this contractions mini unit. Included is a great powerpoint that works as a visual aid to help introduce your contractions unit. Also included are a variety of center activities, pocket chart activity, printables and a craftivity – many resources that are great for whole class teaching, literacy centers, small groups and individual work. In this unit contractions are taught using a story of a scientist that discovered she could shorten words using an apostrophe. By using the powerpoint to convey the story and how contractions are created, the scientist turns the experiment over to the students who will go about creating contractions at the literacy center, cutting up words and gluing them to a flask creating a "contraction reaction." You will engage even your most hard to engage learner!! Teach. Encourage. Inspire. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.2.2.C
